Leg extensions are a classic exercise set for those who love weight machines, but not only do they exert shear force on our kneecaps, they also do not promote any hamstring activity which is essential. The more weight, the more chances of sustaining an injury to the ACL. A more affective alternative to this exercise would be weighted squats, weighted lunges or the 90-degree leg press.
