This one is SOOOO confusing because we all watch our favorite athletes on TV with the same series of events. They are putting in the work, running, sweating, they've got ripped bodies, they are looking super fit....and then they're like "drink this, it's gonna give you the energy that you need to play like me." You're sitting there mesmerized thinking how thirsty you are right at this very moment.
The truth is, unless you yourself are a serious athlete, these beverages will have the opposite effect on you. They are meant for those who put in hours of exercise and need to overcompensate for the hundreds and thousands of calories and carbs they burn on a daily basis. If you aren't burning those calories and carbs, you are just putting fat into your body.
If you still want the benefits of those electrolytes that your body loses during a moderate workout, a better alternative would be to drink a little coconut water along with a lot of fresh water. A banana on the side will give you an extra boost of energy!
